Tranquil Texture Shaker Card

tranquil textures shaker

This was a card I made for my Dad for Father’s day.  I love a shaker card and when I saw the little beads in this suite, I knew I had to make one. Unfortunately the DSP and beads are now retired, but there are several other papers in the new catalogue which would work just as well and the woven threads sequins would make a lovely addition to your shaker card. I have listed the items I used below, together with the alternatives you could use.

Card Base 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ scored and folded @ 4 1/8″
One piece of whisper white 5 5/8″ x 3 7/8″
Two pieces of Designer Series Paper (DSP) 5 5/8″ x 3 7/8″
Inside layer Whisper White 5 5/8″ x 3 7/8″
Scraps of Whisper White and Night of Navy

Glue one piece of DSP to the Whisper White and the other piece to the front of your card.

Using a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, stamp out your octopus and your plant and die cut them out.
Using the largest circle Die cut a circle in the top centre of the piece of layered Whisper White and DSP.

On a scrap of Whisper White cardstock stamp your sentiment and punch it out with the Classic Label Punch.
Also use the classic label punch to punch out some Night of Navy. Cut this in half longways and affix to the back of your sentiment so it shows top and bottom.

Glue the piece of window sheet to cover the circle at the back of your cardstock. Add some foam adhesive strips around the circle making sure to close your circle fully.
Add some adhesive strip to the bottom of the card to make it the same height.
Fill the circle with beads.
Remove the backing from the adhesive strips and carefully attach I to the front of your card.

Add your plant and octopus to the bottom front of your window.
Using Dimensionals, add your sentiment to the bottom right-hand side of your card.
Make a small bow from baker’s twine and put it at he top of your window.

Originally when I made this, it was going to be a Birthday card, but as I went to do the sentiment I was drawn to Father’s Day instead 🙂

Until next time,

Happy Crafting
